Top games coming this year.

June 17, 2008

While working away today I lept into dream land thinking about the games I’m most looking forward to this year.  Being the kind thoughtful type I thought I’d share said list with you all in the hope it would inspire others to think ahead about what they really want to spend their gaming time and money on.

  • Warhammer Online (late September, EA)
  • Dead Space (late October, EA)
  • Too Human (28th August, Microsoft)
  • Ghostbusters (21st October, Sierra)
  • Far Cry 2 (Late October, Ubisoft)
  • Prince of Persia (Q4, Ubisoft)
  • Fable 2 (Q4, Microsoft)
  • Soul Calibur (31st July, Ubisoft)
  • Star Wars: Force Unleashed (19th September, LucasArts)
  • Starcraft 2 (Q4, Blizzard)
  • Spore (5th September, EA)
  • Resistance 2 (Q4, SCEA)
  • Fallout 3 (Q4, Bethesda)
  • WoW: WotLK (Q4, Blizzard)
  • and the list could go on….

I mean seriously look at some of these titles!  They’re all going to be amazing games that will satisfy not only those that are into the particular genre, but also those that may not normally stray from a select gaming type.

If I had the required consoles for all these (offers of a PS3 will be taken seriously) I would struggle to a) find time to do anything else and b) have to sell my kidneys just to afford them.  September alone could cost £150 and that’s from just those above.  However games pricing is a whole different matter for another time…

Last but not least I look down my chosen games and I see good coverage for PC, 360 & PS3 but where is the Wii or handheld representation?  Of three multi format games that grace the Wii I would rather play them on 360 as I know I’ll enjoy the experience more both graphically and for raw gameplay.  DS and PSP don’t get a look in (although PSP’s Endochrome looks interesting to say the least) and I honestly feel will disappoint this year.

Anyway, please let me know if there is a game you can’t wait to play this year… after all we all need something to do while 40k Online is brewing!
